A Mission Statement is in essence a
written down reason for "Being". It is the key to finding your path in
life and identifying the mission you choose to follow.
In having a clearly articulated mission statement, one is
given a template of PURPOSE that can be used to initiate, evaluate and
refine all of one's activities.
Did
you know the average person makes 612 decisions a day? Each one takes us either closer to or
further from our stated mission in life.
Do you know where you are going?
Do you know which Path to take?
Do you have a mission statement - a vision statement - and an action
plan? Isn't it
interesting that pilots are not allowed to fly until they have filed a thorough
flight plan - and yet most of us launch our days not knowing or signaling to
others where we plan to end up.
Do
you know what you are here for?
Other than those false assumptions we choose to believe in like our job
is our mission or our role is our mission, or our to-do list is our
mission? Each one of us has been born with the potential for a great
destiny. It is up to us to embrace
it. Do you know what Gandhi, Shakespeare and Martin Luther King, Jr.
have that you don't? Absolutely Nothing…..
The same heart beat that pulsed through
Picasso and Thomas Edison pulses through you and me. Why not believe in a
divine plan for your destiny?
I
think that Marianne Williamson says it best:
Our
deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our
deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It
is our light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.
We
ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented,
fabulous?
Actually,
who are you NOT to be? You
are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the
world. There
is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure
around you.
We
were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It
is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And
as we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to
do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence
automatically liberates others.
